Load calculation

Working out how much heating or cooling a building actually needs from its size, construction, insulation, windows, orientation and climate — rather than from the size of the unit being replaced or a rule of thumb per square foot. Oversized equipment short-cycles, dehumidifies poorly and wears out sooner, so the calculation is what separates a replacement from a guess.
